Terms of Service

Last updated: May 16, 2026

Thanks for using Byway. By using the app or our services you agree to these terms. They're written plainly. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.

1. The app

Byway is a bike route generator provided by Ample Software ("we"). It's free to use. We may change, add, or remove features at any time without notice.

2. Riding safely is on you

Cycling is inherently risky. Byway shows you a suggested route on a map; you are entirely responsible for riding it safely:

3. Map data accuracy

Routes are generated from OpenStreetMap data and computed by GraphHopper. That data can be out of date or wrong — a road may be closed, a path may have been removed, a one-way may have changed direction. Always verify against what you see in front of you.

4. Acceptable use

5. Intellectual property

The Byway name, branding, app, and original content are owned by Ample Software. Map data is © OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the Open Database License. Routing engine is GraphHopper, licensed under the Apache License 2.0.

6. No warranties

Byway is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We don't promise the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or available in your area. We don't promise the suggested route is safe.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Ample Software is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of Byway. Our total liability for any claim arising out of these terms is limited to USD $10.

8. Changes

We may update these terms. If we do, we'll update the date at the top. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated terms.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, USA, without regard to its conflict of laws rules.
